[1] Full Transparency

The blockchains / web3 / DAOs that are most successful today are built upon a permissionless architecture with full transparency of transactions. In order to instill belief and confidence to the world that The Open DAO ($SOS 🆘) is a legitimate project, I advocate that we embrace a LiveStreaming strategy for facilitating our Alliance TEAM calls.

[2] Platform Agnostic Community

What Does Platform Agnostic Mean?

*Platform agnostic is a a concept that refers to the design attributes and philosophies of software products. A platform agnostic product runs equally well across more than one platform.

In yet another context, the term refers to user choices.*

What is Platform Agnostic? - Definition from Techopedia

🛠🤗|We #BUIDL an Inclusive and Platform Agnostic Community

We have often heard from community members (not necessarily here, at The Open DAO) that Discord, for the uninitiated, can be overwhelming. We have seen in the second half of 2021 that web3 / DAO communities have “leaned heavily” into centralizing their community building strategies around Discord.

We believe that we can do better here at The Open DAO in 2022!!

By utilizing “platform agnostic” tools such as Zoom + Restream.io, we can provide access to our Alliance TEAM calls through whichever platform they choose to engage with (YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Discord, etc).

[3] Provides a Component to our Content Strategy

Creating content (social media posts, videos, written articles, etc) takes an immense amount of effort. We are already planning on having these Alliance TEAM Calls anyway. Instead of just letting these meetings come and go, by being intentional about facilitating them with this LiveStreaming format, it automagically turns every Alliance call into multiple pieces of content through multi-streaming technology that Restream.io provides.

[4] Replay Capability

In a global organization (DAO) such as ours, it is unreasonable to accommodate everyone’s schedule that would like to participate. With using this LiveStreaming format, someone can easily replay whichever Alliance call they missed, whenever they would like.

[5] “Baked in” Civility

When people know that they are being recorded and that the content is being LiveStreamed, it typically elevates civility that may not have otherwise occurred.

LiveStream Format Summary

  1. Zoom meeting scheduled for agreed upon window of time (suspect that these sessions will typically be 1h time blocks).
  2. “GoLive” (IE: start the LiveStream) at 10min past the hour. This provides an acceptable window for some late-joiners, review the agenda, express concerns before “GoLive”, etc.
  3. Do not admit new participants to the Zoom after the “GoLive” time period. If for whatever reason people are late, they can always participate in the LiveStream (via YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Discord, etc)
